TPF
or transaction processing facility, is the operating system used by 90% of the airlines and a small number of banks in the world. It is based on mainframe technology and a credo of high availability, high throughput.
XML and TPF - the new world meets the old.
I wrote the XML and TPF article for two reasons - one was to teach myself XML. The other you'll have to read about in the article. Actually a better version is available at The TPFTODAY archives, 2001. If you aren't registered you will need to do so but it's free (see link on same page). In any case it's a n introduction to XML from a Assembler / low level programmers point of view. If you don't know what HTML is and couldn't spell it without help, this is probably the article for you. However I won't coddle anyone - it's terse and packed with information.
Feb, 2003: I got permission from my current company (EDS) to continue with the articles so long as they can check it for company secrets. Pssst... we use mainframes and TPF at EDS. But don't tell anybody. This means I can continue with enlightening the world (all 4 of you) with interesting stuff about XML.
July 2003: I added my short history of the Gemini Group. As well as my TPF resume. The latter is for me, but you're welcome to look at it. The former is for anyone who's interested.
