Other useful Dachau information

Dachau and the Dachau concentration camp (KZ-Gedenkstätte Dachau) are about a 3.5 hour drive from Zurich, making it either a long day trip or a weekend trip. It is also a short (30 minute) drive outside of Munich, which makes it an easy day trip there. The memorial site is closed on Mondays so watch out for that.

Our hotel

While there, we stayed at the Bavaria Hotel garni, Dachau, which is within walking distance of the memorial and the largest shopping in Dachau, but far outside the center of town. If you don't mind forsaking the old-towne feel, I recommend this place. Pets are allowed.
